Round Robin Story with :icon12bfeygirl42:

Though a sequel, the writers have many details and changes in their minds for the prequel that are not on the page. With more thought and care this will hopefully make much more sense.

The guards uneasily fanned out around the pair of prisoners with more caution than the average watcher would think they needed. Certainly, they were prepped enough and decked out in what amounted to riot gear. Within the confines of the prison, an armored truck sat patiently in wait for its passengers.

Rubino and Azul Guerra, once shadowy figures only spoken of in nightmares and whispers, were cuffed in the cloud-filtered daylight, looking as bored and casual as if they were taking a walk through Venice.

One memorable incident led to them having their ankles shackled as well with enough to room walk comfortably but definitely not to strangle anyone. Which had happened.

There were no words spoke as the first pair of guards entered the truck then the twins then followed by another pair and the doors of the truck closed with ominous finality.

The truck shifted slightly before moving forward. The back of the truck was dark of course, save for the light coming through the front window - a small partition in the wall look out to the driver’s seat of the truck.

Azul and Rubino sat comfortably across from each other, their hair longer than it had been unbound. They had always been slender and were thinner - perhaps from prison food - skin having lost its tan- still copper-skinned but less dark than before.

Rubino let a smile curl on his lips though the guards did not take immediate notice. Maybe it was budgeting problems, but they really should have separated them. Captured did not mean neutralized.

They had always been ready for situations such as this. With a profession like theirs, it was more a necessity than a choice. It only took a few slow blinks to gain the attention of his brother, fingers flying in a gesture easily resembling a twitch.

His eyes flickered towards the guards, a small smirk threatening to break loose again. They still hadn’t noticed.

Azul mimicked two rapid sneezes, causing the authorities to twitch at the sudden noise and movement. However, it was all the clarification that the elder needed.

It would take at least an hour - not counting any close calls where the unobservant nitwits may actually pay attention - to subtly prepare for their escape.

Idly he relaxed, letting himself concentrated on the movement of the conveyance, his brother no doubt keeping the time. It had been a few months since their slip-up, the only miscalculation underestimating a couple of civilians and not remaining a team.

Though as his eyes flickered towards his younger twin, Rubino did wonder if it was their closeness that caused his own capture.

His pride would never allow him to admit to his own carelessness.

No matter; they were a team again like it should have been. Capello had always been too lenient with his enemies preferring a diplomat, manipulative hand. They’d thought the civilians soft targets and paid for it. But even with a blight on their record, they could still pull out a victory.

Azul’s arm and all their injuries were healed - he inwardly thanked their enemies for the reprieve they’d provided, granting them a few additional months of breather room while they giving clemency for medical reasons. Injuries or not, he would have dropped two prisoners like him and his brother into supermax immediately. But those within the boundaries of the law had to be more humane these days. How unlucky for them.

They known Capello’s policy for cutting off loose cannons - that didn’t mean he wasn’t frustrated about it. But no matter. They had no intention of going to Germany like this.

An hour in, he sensed the guards subtly relaxing; Azul rolled his eyes, twitching his wrists. Rubino smiled, fingers working under their sleeves. He felt the cuffs slip. His brother dropped his head minutely.

Rubino - his hand snapped out catching a throat - a choked gasp, sliding the gun out, the discharge of a bullet. Blood, a scream, another, blood oozing between fingers - the crash of hard objects, a strangled cry, cracked bone.

Of course the drivers made a fatal mistake - the passenger opened the window to the back cabin.

“Che cosa - “

"Non!"

The driver swore as a spatter of blood suddenly exploded on the windshield, the passenger guard thumping against the wall with his eyes wide open, sliding and thumping awkwardly onto the driver.

The truck skidded as Rubino calmly patted down one of the guards for keys. Then, the truck tilted dangerously, sending unconscious bodies sliding and both brothers tucked into each other as the truck went crashing onto the driver’s side.

They were still for a moment, bones rattled. A faint groan came from the driver.

Azul huffed and lifted his head from under his brother’s arm, looking at the open peek window in disbelief. “Really?”

“They crack under-pressure."

“Let’s not make the same mistake twice,”

“Indeed.”

The guards weren’t all dead - Rubino had chopped both his guards in the neck at the same time, hard enough to make them gasp for breath, stolen the gun of one and blown out his kneecap. His brother had acquired a sharp edge from somewhere, slicing the throat of one guard - he was now on the ground clutching his throat, the life bleeding out of him. Azul had shoved  his second guard - closest to the door - making his helmeted skull collide with the other guard and shot Rubino’s remaining guard in the neck, the only exposed target.

“The keys aren’t here,”

Rubino grunted. “Just pick them,”

They sat up and Azul casually blasted a bullet through the eye of a guard. “Messier than I would like; we’ll need new clothes.”

“Well, at least they posed something of a challenge.” Rubino’s fingers were more nimble than his brother’s and he had them both of out of the ankle shackles easily. “We’ll strip the drivers. Take the handguns, extra cartridges. This road is deserted - judging by the lack of alarms but we should move quickly. Clean up.”

Azul flicked a lighter out of the hem of his pants and smiled.

I am going to be quietly annoyed at the fact that just as I start to become more interested in dA it lays off staff, ignores its community and hikes premium membership and calls it 'Core'. First it was the silly tree-branch logo (which I now understand is suppose to be a half A) and this burning object to the demanding submit button. Spirits, defend me. I still like the stories and art though and I'd hate to lose such a vast archive

Picture-Worthy

1 min read
I've always come across many things that were picture worthy so it's a relief to be able to take a picture when i feel the urge, with a decent camera on hand for once. I was taking pictures of ducks in Central Park and perching precariously on a rock that was more in the water than not when I saw a gold-yellow fish at least 2/3 of my arm width swim by the base of my rock. I scrambled to get a shot but my camera was not powerful enough to penetrate the water. It was probably a carp.

On Hogwarts

3 min read

I wrote this awhile ago but I've been too invested in Harry Potter lately.

I have decided to ignore J.K. Rowling's abysmal math and structure skills. I have personally decided a few things - Hogwarts is not the only school in the United Kingdom (maybe the others are smaller and are day schools. Heck maybe Hogwarts has such an impact on wizarding culture, the house system also happens in the day schools), the U.K. Wizarding World includes all of the British Isles (Scotland, Ireland, England, Wales, and all surrounding islands) and the Ministry of Magic has specific branches for varying districts.

Hogwarts has four houses yes. I have also decided that they are divided into classes - 4 at the most A, B, C, D (A1 being Class A Year 1 and so on). Meaning Harry, Neville, Ron, Dean, Seamus are the Gryffindor A1 Boys and Hermione, Parvati, Lavender, Fay* and her friend* are the girls. Their class would combine with Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, or Slytherin A1 to make a class of 20 students. This would mean 4 houses x forty students a year x seven years = 1120 students in the school. (how large is the British wixen population anyway?)

Each section would have 40 students (roughly) but the section could be split in two.

I also had a problem with the idea of 1 teacher teaching all 7 years. I understand that J.K. Rowling did not want to make new teachers every year but it's not realistic.

Therefore i must conclude that each year section has an assigned teacher and they move forward with that class until they graduate and then return to the 1st years. (sounds weird) though it does give them a better grasp on their students.  Like Section A (all houses) has McGonagall as Transfiguration Professor.

....actually i sense flaws in my system.

there would likely be two teachers per section per subject. So I have concluded that each section has an assigned teacher or teachers that never changes. So, there would possibly be 2 teachers per section - one for 1 - 4th years, 1 for 5th - 7th years and I guess a teaching assistant because the lower year teachers would have 160 students and the upperyear professors have 120 (and additional post-graduate help so I guess it balances out)

Having roughly 93 students per teacher (and teaching 7 different syllabi) seems a bit much.

*Fay and her friend were in the movie.

* Also, I read a theory in fic that the reason why the Hogwarts student population is low is because of the war that ended ten years before and would have killed young witches and wizards who would have had children and the war also wiped out entire families. Which makes tons of sense.

...but i am not sure this does. I will need to mull over it more.
